Before sending the file
  • PDF page size matches the requested final size.
  • Optional image check is clear or not needed.
  • File is exported as PDF at final poster size.
  • Ready for print-desk size review.

The first check is page size

Large-format print requests often ask for a final poster size. If the PDF exports at letter size, a slide preview size, or a scaled design size, the print desk may need the file corrected before it can move forward.

This checker is meant for the handoff step: before a student, researcher, designer, or staff member sends the file to a library print service, campus print desk, or external printer.

Before submitting a poster PDF

  • Set the document or slide size to the final poster size before exporting.
  • Export a PDF at final size, not letter size or a scaled preview size.
  • Check large photos or background images against the finished poster dimensions.
  • Leave time for queue review, corrections, and re-export if the print desk requests changes.

For library guides and print service pages

This tool works best as a small support link near poster printing instructions, print request forms, or PowerPoint poster tutorials. It helps users catch the common size mismatch before a service desk has to reply.

Suggested link text

Check poster PDF dimensions before submitting a large-format print request.

Privacy note

The checker does not upload files. It only calculates from dimensions typed into the browser.

Best placement

Place it near print request forms, poster printing FAQs, or PowerPoint poster export instructions.

When image resolution matters too

A PDF can have the correct page size while a photo, chart, scan, or background image inside it is still too small. Use the optional pixel fields when one raster image spans most of the poster.

Need a local image check?

The image resolution checker can read JPG, PNG, and WebP pixel dimensions locally in the browser.
